Old Bones, New Resolve

Old Pika moves about the room, slowly but surely. She purrs thunderously as she walks, keeping the tribbles and small children out of harm's way, trying to be useful for once. Her age is making it difficult, but she's determined.

- Come off there, little one, - she smiles and untangles baby Pika from some thread, nudging her gently as she gets up and runs off.

Logan took a long pull from her bottle of mineral water, then paused as she realized that some of the threads that her younger sister had left on the table she'd been working at were gone.

Frowning, she glanced around for a certain orange kitten.

Pika bolted by, a thread still dangling from her ear as she went to pounce on a tribble.

Old Pika followed more slowly, sighing and looking with amused eyes towards Logan. -I'm sorry, my friend. She's quite the entergetic kitten. I haven't go that speed anymore.-

Logan shook her head, then reached out and snagged the thread.

"Don't hurt yerself, Momma." She set it up on the table beside its fellows.

The old cat chuckled and padded over, sitting.

-Will try not to. But I was never made to be inactive. Surely you know the feeling.-

"Dunno." She grinned and gently tugged on one battered orange-white ear. "Y' introduce me t' the right sunbeam 'n I kin sleep all day."

-Of course. Sunbeams are a nice exception,- she smiled.

"Yeah." Logan looked toward a scent and chuckled. "Don't look now, butcher bein' checked out."

Pika blinked and looked. -Sorry?-

The ancient Mooncat looked back, stumpy ears perked from where he was catloafed on a table. When he was sure that she was looking at him the thirty pound fluffball turned his white face toward the window and pretended that he'd never been looking, though the twitching of his still fine and floofy tail told otherwise.

Logan snerked softly as she continued to scratch Pika's ear. "He's an old guy, looks like 'e useta be solid orange."

-Hm,- she purred, leaning against the hand. -A bit small, don't you think?-

"What's size got t' do with anythin'?" The tiny woman chuckled and moved a little closer to her friend so that she could reach her better.

-Well, if we napped together and I rolled over I might squish him,- she rumbled, chuckling and nuzzled the hand again.

Logan laughed at that and gently rubbed her cheek. "Dare y' ta go say hi."

Pika chuckled, then stood and went over slowly, purring and giving him a sniff.

He turned back and looked at her, then lifted one paw and gently patted her face. -Pretty lady.-

She smiled. -Handsome yourself.-

His purr boomed out as he leaned forward and rubbed his cheek against hers. -Nice, soft, pretty.-

Her purr matched as her tail swished happily and she nuzzled him back, then gave his cheek a lick.

He closed his eyes blissfully, then rolled over and put his 'arms' around her face as he licked her back ardently. -Love love love-

She purred deeply and nuzzled him, sighing softly and happily.

Another blissful cheek rub as his heart swelled. Then he looked around, thinking that the pretty lady would never fit on the table and wanting a good place where they could sit together.

Logan just chuckled and took a pull at her water bottle.

Pika smiled and then looked at Logan meaningfully before turning.
-Come,- she invited, looking at the lovely couch Logan had brought her.

The small woman just shook her head slightly, eyes dancing.

-Okay.- He stood up, revealing the fact that he was missing one hind leg at the hip and that there were great scars in the thick fur on that side of his body. Despite all this, and marked stiffness in his joints, he still hopped spryly down to the nearer seat and then to the floor before stropping affectionately against her foreleg and reaching up to kiss her on the chin.

She smiled and lead him to the couch, getting on and purring as she inclined her head for him to join her.

He climbed up slowly and carefully, then kissed her on the nose. -Hmm, nice.-
