Piotre started at a touch to his chest and opened his eyes, then let out a small sound and closed them again as emotion threatened to choke him.

"Laura," he rasped, a small spark of gladness showing in his scent along with the weariness and sadness and pain.

She looked at him "What happened?"

He tried to reply, but then shook his head and leaned against the door frame again as his face crumpled into tears.

Jana gently tapped Laura on the arm, then offered her a key for one of the rooms upstairs where she could tend the big man's hurts.

She smiled taking the key and taking him to the room.
Wolf coughed loudly "Ee?"

"Wolf." Piotre stopped and lifted the child into his arms, then held onto him like he was afraid someone was going to take him away as he let Laura herd him up the stairs, along the narrow hallway, and into the tiny room with its closet-sized bathroom.

She gave Wolf that look that said Mummy wanted alone time.
Wolf burped before kissing Piotre "New Dadd?"

The big man just stroked the baby's hair, his mind still on what he'd left.

Laura sat him down and started treating him "Talk?"

"Pardon?" He looked up blankly, blue eyes cloudy.

"You need to talk about what happened"

"Ah." He sighed and bowed his head over Wolf.

"Now" she prompted
"Ow" Wolf echoed

He shook his head. "I... can't. Not with Wolf here."

She moved over took a hold of the back of wolf's top and picked him up. She walked to the door opened it, and put him outside before closing the door again. LIke you would with a bad puppy. Mother of the year..... Laura? Maybe not.
Although Wolf didn't seem to bothered he sat there howling like a wolf.
"NOw........talk"

Piotre lifted his head and gave her a look of shock, then turned his head toward the door. "But...."

Wolf's voice cut off abruptly as Zanoah came and got him to come play in the mud.

His eyes closed and he broke down completely, too overcome by the horror of the fight he'd just gone through for anything else.

She yelped rushing back over to him to hug him.

One brawny arm went around her and held her close, the gesture full of carefulness even in his grief. "They... just shot them."

"Who?" she asked snuggling against him, trying to be comforting.

"Sarah, Jessie, Bobby, Taren, and Jubal." His shoulders shook and he could barely get the words out.

She scowled "Want me to go kill someone for you?"

That only made him cry harder. His artist's soul wasn't meant for all the fighting it had seen lately.

"Oh oh" she said snuggling him "no cry darnlin,"

"I'm sorry." His deep voice broke as he hid his face in her hair. "Sorry."

she nuzzled him hoping just being there would relax him.
