Charlie appeared in the hallway outside Logan's Place and paused to listen to the cheerful conversation and clinking of dishes that came from inside. His mouth quirked in a slight grin as someone laughed.

Then he walked through the open door, ducking his head automatically even though there was no need here.

"Hey, boyscout!" Logan gave him a grin from where she was polishing the bar, Jabez a comfortable little lump in the carrier on her back. "'Sup?"

She was sounding more like Jubal every day.

He shook his head with a chuckle. "I'm here on business. Do you have a room free?"

"What kinda room?" She cocked her head and paused to take a swig of notbeer, dark eyes intent on him as she drank.

"A quiet one with somewhere to lay down."

"How long ya need it fer?" She set the mug down and started polishing again, going to get a bottle of Canadian as a young fisherman came over and leaned on the bar.

"All night, maybe." Charlie shrugged.

"Alright." She gave the fisher the beer, then headed for her office for a moment and returned with a key card. "Number six. They ain't that big."

"We'll manage." He grinned and teleported up to the narrow hallway outside the rental rooms. -Alright, Grandma.-

He reached out with his mind and brought Jubilee to stand next to him.

She hugged him tight. Jubilee needed the hug. And the rumbling was comforting. "No. Dark is good right now."

He gave her back a gentle pat, then turned and held the key card in front of the scanner to unlock the door.

"This is small." He looked around the room (which looked like this, only less funky in the covers and with its own teeny bathroom).

"It will do." Jubilee looked around, not caring if it was small or not right now.

"Easy for you to say. You won't have to walk in sideways," he grumbled good-naturedly, indicating that she she should go in ahead of him.

"You got your grandfather's built." Jubilee smiles, and slipt in easily enough into the pod-room.

"Grandfather Lucus and Grandfather Nathan were both built like brick outhouses." He followed, letting the door close behind them, then leaned his butt against the sink.

"So.. how do we do this?"

"Have a drink of water, go to the washroom, then lay down and see if you can relax." He nodded to the bed, knowing that he'd have to move so that she could reach the sink.

Jubilee nodded, then went Charlie moved out of the way she did as he asked. She got the drink of water, went to the washroom and then laid down on the bed. It was a little hard to relax right away, and Jubilee frowned slightly.

He watched her, absently starting to hum the old cowboy song that Wolvie had hummed to him when he was a baby and which his daughter loved.

The song was very familiar, in an odd way. And Jubilee slowly started to relax.
