Victor was sitting by the window, legs curled up underneath her as she sketched and smudged and inked.

It was a study in several profiles, all facing the same way. Men, women, children, eyes sagging, eyes bright, chins jutted up and pointed down.

She paused to shift her weight, and then it was back to the paper.
