Here again

A tall, muscular man clad in sport jacket and jeans walked into the cantina, then stopped and looked around as he recognized the place and remembered when he'd been here last.

-Four years,- he thought, pondering going back home for a moment before shrugging and walking over to a booth. -This is as good a place to work as any.-

One hand went up to absently rub the big purple bruise on the side of his face; souvenir of his last encounter with a door frame. Then he seated himself and asked the furry waitress for a coffee before immersing himself in his work.

"I'm not sure I could ever have been that brave either, for what it's worth."

"I think you put it in your pocket."

Elisa chuckled at that. "Wonder who she belongs to."

"Hard to say. Only critters my Cagney spends any time with are Bronx and Fu-Dog--er, a Gargoyle beast Brooklyn and family brought back with them--and she pretty much rules the roost over the two of them."

"All for the best then," she said.

She really did not want to talk about Thailog, even an alternate. The one of her universe was still out there, now allied with an amoral clone of a dear friend.

Elisa had gotten out of the habbit of wearing a watch, largely because of the inconvinience factor. Sure, it turned to stone with the rest of her--something owning to something in the nature of Gargoyles that affected anything they thought of as "theirs."--but it was hell on the batteries and didn't keep time during that period.

When traveling, though, she did bring one with her, just in case. She took a look at it. "About 5:15 in the morning. A little over an hour until dawn, give or take. I should probably be heading back before too much longer."
