Here again
A tall, muscular man clad in sport jacket and jeans walked into the cantina, then stopped and looked around as he recognized the place and remembered when he'd been here last.
-Four years,- he thought, pondering going back home for a moment before shrugging and walking over to a booth. -This is as good a place to work as any.-
One hand went up to absently rub the big purple bruise on the side of his face; souvenir of his last encounter with a door frame. Then he seated himself and asked the furry waitress for a coffee before immersing himself in his work.

Even still, new places always made her just a little be nervous, if only because of a) a cop's instinct for always being on the lookout for trouble, and b) the possibility of mobs with torches and pitchforks coming.
As she looked around, her eyes fell on one booth in particular.
No way. Absolutely no way.
Except she'd know that face--more or less--anywhere.

Not that he remembered the event. Crashing into a building immediately afterward had ensured that.

She had a good life. She knew that. A mate she loved, she'd helped save the world at least three times, some of the greatest friends anyone could ask for, and she had a place in making the city safe for everyone, human and Gargoyle alike. So why was she so jealous of the possibility of a 'normal' life with Goliath, like her alternate here had.
"What happened to you, Goliath? Puck?"

The boy had been vibrating as he'd dragged him out of the study hall at the university and brought him home.

"Thank you." Goliath frowned at her slightly, then blinked as a tiny flying lizard swished through the protective field and zipped around their heads.

Not that she hadn't wondered about the, ah, bedroom mechanics involved there, but it wasn't a question you asked a ten year old girl.
