Old Bones, New Resolve

Old Pika moves about the room, slowly but surely. She purrs thunderously as she walks, keeping the tribbles and small children out of harm's way, trying to be useful for once. Her age is making it difficult, but she's determined.

- Come off there, little one, - she smiles and untangles baby Pika from some thread, nudging her gently as she gets up and runs off.

"Jimmy's kid." She popped a claw to open her bottle of water with. "The big guy that don't look like a kid." Another nod toward where Robbie and the others were sitting. "He's nearly three."

"Wow," House said, blinking. "So your family just grows every day?"

"Nah." She frowned at him. "Jim said y' met Sammy."

"Oh, right, the telepath manchild," he said, blinking.

"He's a good kid." Pride and affection were in her voice.

"Yeah. Seemed pretty decent," House is trying hard not to be sarcastic around her.

Those shrewed dark eyes gave him a knowing look. "Got more reason than you t' be a @#$%&$#@ 'n 'e don't use it."

"Ouch," he said, blinking with a smirk. "That was an insult?"

"Nah." She popped all three claws on one hand. "Those through the diaphragm's an insult. That was a snark."

Her words were humorous, but her eyes warned that dissing any of 'her' kids was uncool.

"I told you, he was a lovely chap," he said, arching an eyebrow.

"With yer voice." She frowned at her claws, then blinked as Dog set a steak sandwich in front of her and let them retract. "Git lost, I wasn't gonna do nothin' to 'im."

"I'm trying," he said. "But, old dog and all that."

"Y' know 'is story? she asked, lifting the lid of the sandwich and looking inside. Then she thought of something and chuckled. "I'm older. Don't remember none' o' it. But I'm supposedta be over a hunderd."

"I look older," he countered and chuckled.
