Old Bones, New Resolve

Old Pika moves about the room, slowly but surely. She purrs thunderously as she walks, keeping the tribbles and small children out of harm's way, trying to be useful for once. Her age is making it difficult, but she's determined.

- Come off there, little one, - she smiles and untangles baby Pika from some thread, nudging her gently as she gets up and runs off.

"Heh." Jubal watched them and stuck his stocking foot in the kitten's path. "Victory parade."

Logan shook her head, then looked at House. "Wanna beer?"

"Sure," he said, watching as the kitten walked face first into a gametable leg and fell to the side, looking a bit dazed and confused while the tribbles clustered around her and eeped nervously.

Logan shook her head, then ruffled Jubal's hair in congratulations, took a swat at Robbie, and patted Samuel on the chest before turning and hauling Ben toward the bar.

Ben looked back over his mother's shoulder at House with a watchful look in his eyes.

House blinked, then scooped up the kitten, holding it up at eye level as he went after her. Sitting at the bar he put the kitten on the counter and carefully started testing its reflexes and awareness.

Ben frowned in concern and crawled up onto the bar himself to lay on his tummy with crossed arms and watch Pika worriedly.

Logan watched too, though she wasn't too worried. She'd seen Pika do such things before.

House blinked after a moment, then clucked his tongue. Pika looked up at him, and he smiled, petting her before looking at Ben. "She's fine. Just knocked her brains loose for a moment," he chuckled, then watched as she wandered over to lick Ben's nose clean.

"Ain't the first time." Logan shook her head, then handed him the bottle of Canadian that Dog had passed over and sipped her own 'notcoffee'.

He chuckled.

"Yeah. Never hurts to check though," he said, taking a swig of the beer and then cracking a smirk as Pika climbed atop Ben's head.

Logan chuckled and set them both on the floor, then handed Ben a sippy cup and a couple of peanut butter cookies, one of which he gave to Pika. "Guess not."

Pika munched on it thoughtfully, then mewed in distress as peanut butter stuck to the top of her mouth. She started walking in circles, mewing and clucking, making House smirk.

"So now that the kid's beat me you uninterested in a match?" he asked, looking at her. "No cheating?"
