A commanding, shadowy figure swept through the teleportal, then turned to look at the two who had accompanied her, a strangely human voice coming from her frightening mask.

"Where do you want to sit?"

"Super-WHAT?!?!" Batman asked looking a little out raged.
Adao giggled.

"Laura Luthor had Superman killed in my reality," she said, her face closed and distant. "Then she took it upon herself to mix his DNA with mine and produce children from it, whom she tried to set against me."

"But we have minds of our own" Adao said warmly.

He blinked slowly "I......."

"They have their father's heart," said Brenda gruffly.

Batman wheeled back a little. "He hasn't a heart"

Adao looked at her then him wondering what was going on.

"No." She sighed and absently urged her son to sit in the chair beside her so that her legs wouldn't go to sleep. "It's B. Wayne who hasn't a heart."

He did as suggested moving to the other seat.

"me?"

"And me." She scowled absently. "We've locked ourselves so solidly into the Bat that we've forgotten how to be human."

"Getting the back broken didn't help with that"

"Mine was severed between my shoulder blades." Her voice was low. "I drove everyone away... even Alfred. In the end it was just me when I collapsed."

"I've kept alfred near, I love, I just can't love Him"

"And I can't not. He was my best friend, the one that I could always count on to be in my corner when the JLA opposed me."

"They're a bunch of pain in th..." She glanced at Adao. "They're annoying, but good to have at your back in a pinch."

"Of course, Cal and I founded the organization." She sighed. No wonder he didn't have one.

Adao scowled "This is kind of boring.....lets go play?"

Brenda looked Bruce right in the eye. "Why?"

"All of this talk of Super beings is making me uncomfortable"

"So you're running away. The man who once had the Gotham underworld living in fear of him is running away like a scared pup." Her lips thinned.
