She looked around, held onto his hand a bit tighter than before. "Bit dizzy-like. 'S cool." Small, lopsided smile.

He smiled at her, then blinked as a dusky wolf suddenly appeared in front of them and regarded them with very intelligent turquoise eyes. "Err, hello. Am I right in surmising that you're part of the local security team?"

"Yeah, Albus, that's Zanoah," said a husky female voice from behind them at the bar. "Hey, kid, welcome ta Logan's Place."

Her first reaction to seeing a wolf would be to back away slowly, but she decided that it would probably be embarrassing, especially if the wolf had a human-ish thought process and understood body language in any analyzing way. So she stood there, looked at Albus, and determined that it was okay and that the wolf wasn't a scary-wolf it was a good-fairytale-wolf

"Thank y', ma'am." She nodded lightly to her, to make up for how awkward her voice sounded to herself. She felt strange not having a hat to tip to her. And...just very exposed. She didn't have time to apply makeup, which she usually did when she had any minor injuries.

The woman didn't have any makeup on herself. She was tiny, with a heart-shaped face and large dark eyes that seemed older somehow than the rest of her. But those eyes held a welcome for the newcomer, as did the twinkling eyes of the fat baby boy who sat on the bar next to her.

"Victor, this is Logan," said Albus. "And her son Ben McCoy. Logan, Ben, this is my friend Victor Allen. She's hoping she might stay a night."

Zanoah watched the interaction, then walked forward and gently licked Victor's free hand, her tail waving slowly.

She didn't usually wear makeup, but she did tend to slap a bit of base on when she was bruised up, to avoid some of the funny looks she'd get otherwise. In fact, when she was performing 'The Importance of Being Earnest' one of her castmates had to show her how to apply makeup properly. And when she got to the base, Victor said 'You mean it ain't for coverin' stuff up?' Apparently, to her great surprise, it was used to even out skin tone.

But...baby! She waved to the child. "Hi there, lil' dude." Soft-cooing-soft. Then she looked back up to Logan. "Pleased t' meet y'all."

And pet-pet for the wolfthing? Was that okay? Nervous glance!

"It's a presure to meet you too," said the baby, grinning as though speaking at that level weren't odd for a guy his age. "Zan likes pets when she's in her woof form."

Zanoah made a soft sound and leaned gently against Victor's leg.

"Holy." And that was it. She had a firm rule of no cursing around children, but the word had all of the emphasis she could muster. "Dude, 's awesome." And she really did wish she could speak properly. "Sorry, never saw a baby-dude talk like tha' 'fore. Man oh man, y' talk better 'n me." She signed 'thank you' to him for the dog info. She didn't know much sign language and she didn't know if the mini genius knew any, but she figured it was worth a shot. She felt like she did a four hour speech.

Pet-pet! Gentle-soft-calm.

"You're welcome! My ada was smart too." He frowned and crawled over to take a closer look at her. "He was Beast... Zanoah can fix your owies if you ask her."

"Ben..." warned Logan gently, her eyes twinkling with pride for the little guy.

Zanoah, for her part, just sighed and leaned a tiny bit harder, tail waving.

"'S okay i-if Zanoah...I mean, she wouldn't min', 'cause...ummm...it really hurts?" Tiny smile.

And another pet. "D-d' you min'?"

The wolf looked up at her, then gently nudged her hand aside and stepped away before suddenly becoming a young woman with an angular Native American face and long black hair. "I don't mind. I can feel how it hurts."

Albus blinked at the change, his brows rising with interest as Fawkes leaned over and tilted his head.

"Th-th-thank y'. So much." She admired her features a moment, because as an artist, she tended to get distracted like that. She thought that she would like to paint the young wolf-woman sometime.

"It would probably work better than a camera holo." Zanoah grinned and put a hand on her arm. "Let's go sit on the window seat."

"Wait for me!" Ben gave a flying leap and landed in Abus's arms. The old man didn't even seem fazed by the baby's antics, though Logan shook her head as she walked over to get a drink for a guy at the other end of the bar.

"Oh?" Victor was a tiny bit confused by that, but the hand on her arm was a great steadying force for her, mentally, and she followed along.

Victor whistled lightly (her whistling impaired by the swelling on her face). "You got a talented child."

Zanoah looked over her shoulder as she helped Victor to settle onto the comfortable cushions of the seat. "Do you know anything about the X-Men?"

"Thanks!" Ben laughed and tried to trill back to Fawkes.

"Only by lit an' rep." She sat down, tapping a nervous tattoo on her leg. "Met a few X-Dudes, but...ah...my world dun got 'em."

Victor winked at the child, and tipped an invisible (by goodness she missed her hat) hat.

"His dad was Hank McCoy. The big furry blue guy." She sniffed and glanced at Victor, then snapped her fingers and offered the younger girl a hat.

Ben had started to tip his own pretend hat, but this display of fae ability rendered him wide-eyed and speechless with awe.

"He's cool," she said softly, then...awe. Pure, unadulterated awe. "Man oh man," (and a glance to the kiddo) "if'n I was in th' habit of cursin'...dude, that rocks." She placed it on her head, and did a proper hat-tip.

"Ain't this so cool?" She beamed, then bit back a whimper as she smiled too widely. Ah, that hurt so much!

Ben giggled and hid, then lifted his head again and watched as Zanoah gently put her hands to either side of Victor's face.

"This might feel... tingly or something," she warned as a turquoise glow suddenly surrounded the artist.

Her eyes slid half-closed as she focused on the feeling. It was like...if there was more to life than 'cold' or 'warm', it would be that.

And the color!

"Have you heard of Wolverine?" asked Zanoah conversationally as she focused on mending cells and tissues.

"Sure have," she mumbled softly. She wanted to say that she'd read an awful lot about him, but she had rules about what she should and shouldn't say about people who exist as fiction on her world or other worlds. And she was afraid that if she talked too much, her face would be put together wrong. A possibly irrational fear, yes, but a fear nonetheless.

-I know all about the comic books,- came a soft thought in her mind.

Zanoah chuckled and stepped back, the light fading. "My father and Ben's mother."

And yes, she totally said that just to see Victor's reaction.

She didn't have any special mind powers, so she just thought about comic books, and that she was fond of them, and that the Nexus was so freakin' cool and that she didn't talk about things like that because it was her Rule. And she hoped the message was understood.

Blink-blink. And she made a number of interesting faces. One of them was out of delight that she could make the faces without wanting to cry. And one of the faces included a lot of confusion. "Alts, right? Or a genderswitch at an inopportune time?" It couldn't work at once! Victor only had an elementary understanding of such things, but she knew that for a fact. Right?

"Alters, yeah." Zanoah chuckled. "My father is the Warlord of an Earth that got nuked to bits. Ben's mom is over there behind the bar."

"So's Bethany," added Ben, lest this important part get forgotten.

"Aye, in'erestin'. Not much to lord over, then?" She waved merrily to the lady at the bar. She was slurring less, and it made her happy, though her accent was a bit more pronounced this way.

"Oh?" Sliiiight confusion. So many names!
